Inova Adopts System to Protect Hospital Staff
Leading In Bio-Terrorism & Pandemic Preparedness

July 27, 2007 (Kansas City, MO). Inova Health System, an award-winning not-for-profit health care system of hospitals and other health services in Northern Virginia has selected Kansas City-based NexGenisys to help ensure their hospital readiness. The implementation of the MEDS|POD mass dispensing system, scheduled later this year in September, combines the leadership of two organizations committed to the well-being of our country’s emergency preparedness.

Dr. Dan Hanfling, Director of Emergency Management and Disaster Medicine, with Inova Health System, said, “We look forward to the implementation of the NexGenysis MEDS|POD software to help us improve our ability to distribute medical counter-measures to our staff in the event of an outbreak of disease, intentional or not. Having managed patients from both the Pentagon attacks and the anthrax mailings in our hospitals, we know how important it is to ensure the well being and safety of our staff, for whom this enhanced capability is being put in place. The NexGenisys MEDS|POD solution has taken a very complicated matter, and made it much simpler to manage.”

Inova’s mission is to improve the health of their diverse community they serve through excellence in patient care, education and research. Preparing emergency and urgent care centers with an ability to protect their employees and their family members, not only coincides with broader Public Health initiatives in their region, but ensures their staff is available to do their job, at a time when their community needs them the most.

Russell Andrews, Co-Founder of NexGenisys, the leading software developer for disaster response and recovery systems, stated, “We are excited by the adoption of MEDS|POD by Inova Health System, home to Northern Virginia’s only Level 1 Trauma Center. Inova is widely recognized as a leader in emergency preparedness and coordination, as evidenced by the many health care providers who look to Inova for best practices. Another regional adoption of the MEDS|POD mass dispensing system also further validates how hospitals are stepping up to the plate in emergency preparedness efforts and protecting their employees.”

MEDS|POD, the medical emergency decision support software improving health care services during emergencies, streamlines patient movement in mass dispensing clinics and expedites safe and fast response efforts during a time of crisis.

NexGenisys provides software and consulting services to health care, business and public health sectors, to mitigate the effects that man-made or natural disasters have on our populations, whether it be a large public community or a smaller group of employees.
